You're an EasyRent lister if you're listing your place for 1-3 months on EasyRent to find somebody to stay and cover rent while away.
You're an EasyRenter if you're looking for or staying in a 1-3 month place listed on EasyRent.
As part of signing up to create an EasyRent account, you'll need to let us know your Instagram handle (account name). We'll email you a verification code after you've signed up, which you're required to message to us on Instagram @EasyRent.anz in order for your account to be verified.
We use Instagram to chat to users and then connect them to each other!
Sydney and Melbourne. Other cities are coming soon!
EasyRent stays are usually between 1-3 months, but we also have listings and EasyRent stays down to 1-2 weeks.
We're a platform that connects people heading away for 1-3 months and leaving their room or apartment rentals empty, with people looking for a place to stay for 1-3 months.
Those heading away can list their rental on EasyRent and we’ll connect them with people looking for stays, who’ll move in and sublet the rental, covering the rent of the people away.
We only connect the best fit people and have a set of easy steps to ensure you the sublet goes smoothly and securely.
We don’t automatically charge cleaning fees because we require you to leave your EasyRent stay in the same level of cleanliness as that on move in. If not, the EasyRent lister can contest your automatic security deposit refund and we will deduct a cleaning fee from your security deposit.
If you’ve added your Australian bank account details to your EasyRent account, your security deposit will be automatically refunded to you on the 3rd day after move out, unless contested by the EasyRent lister. Should you leave the condition of the EasyRent worse than on move in, it’s reasonable to expect a deduction from your security deposit, which will be sent to the EasyRent lister as compensation for the condition they return home to.
You’ll need to chat to the EasyRent lister to arrange a plan on where and when to leave the keys.
You’re also required to take photos/videos of the place and send these to us on Instagram on move out day.
The EasyRent sublet agreement requires you to leave your EasyRent stay in the same condition as when you moved in. If the condition is not the same, the EasyRent lister can contest your automatic security deposit refund and we’ll compare your photos/videos with those provided by the lister, so we can work out the fairest outcome.
You’ll need to pay security deposit and weekly rent payments to our Australian bank account.
What if I don’t yet have an Australian bank account?
A lot of EasyRenters also pay us through Revolut (if you’re Irish), Monzo (if you’re British) or Wise (if you’re from other countries), as nice ways to avoid international bank fees if you’re paying from your home country bank through an international banking payment.
If you’d prefer to pay us through international banking you’re welcome to do so but just make sure you cover the international fee.
If you’re paying through Revolut, Monzo, Wise or international banking, there’ll be a slight delay in receiving your payments so just make sure you send a screenshot of the payment to us at @easyrent.nz on Instagram.
Most EasyRent listers meet the EasyRenter for key handover at their home but it’s also common for the lister to have a neighbour, friend or family member help to meet you with the keys. Just message the EasyRent lister on Instagram to work out the plan!
We require you to take photos/videos of the place and send these to us on move in day, so we can compare these to the condition of the place at the end of your stay if needed.
The expectation is that the EasyRent lister sends you pre-move in notes that usually include the following:
Key handover information:
Where and when you’ll meet them for this
How many sets of keys there are
Where the bins are stored and when collection days are
Where the laundry is (if the EasyRent lister doesn’t have their own)
If there are plants that need to be watered
Whether bedding/towels are provided (this is the expectation)
Any miscellaneous property specific things
What time and date the EasyRent lister will be returning home and how key handover at the end of your stay can work
We will email you the EasyRent sublet agreement for easy online signing. This is an agreement between you and the EasyRent lister that outlines the details of the sublet, including your address, move in and out dates, rent amounts, security deposit amount, cleanliness requirements and our 4 weeks’ notice cancellation policy.
As the final step to secure the place, you’ll then be required to pay the security deposit to EasyRent
We’ll compare your enquiries to the enquiries from other EasyRenters to work out the best match for you and the EasyRent listers. We’ll also prioritise your first enquiry you make.
We’ll receive your enquiry and compare it to all other enquiries to find the best fit for the EasyRent lister. If you’re the lucky one, we’ll send your EasyRent profile through to the lister.
If the EasyRent lister would like to move ahead, we’ll introduce you in an Instagram group chat where you’re free to chat, ask any questions and have a video call if needed. We’ll send through final details (dates, rent and security deposit amounts) here too!
Lots of EasyRenters stay in multiple back-to-back EasyRents! We have new listings coming onto our website every day, so just make sure you are checking for these and are willing to pay the full duration of each listing.
This is an agreement between you (the EasyRenter) and the EasyRent lister, outlining the following:
Move in and out dates
Weekly rent and dates
Security deposit amount
Our 4 weeks’ notice cancellation policy
This agreement makes sure you’re protected during your stay!
Rent in your final week will be prorated so you’re only paying for the exact amount of time you’ll be staying.
To make your move in as easy as possible, first week rent will be due the day after move in and this first day will be paid for in the final week of rent. This means your final week of rent will be the final week prorated amount + an extra day to cover the move in day not paid for until this final week.
Bills are included in the listed weekly rent amount so you won’t need to pay these separately during your stay.
The listed weekly rent amount and security deposit is all you’ll need to pay and there are no hidden fees.
Immediately after signing the EasyRent sublet agreement with the EasyRent lister, you’re required to pay the listed security deposit amount to EasyRent. We’ll hold this on your behalf from after signing through to the end of your stay, making sure the EasyRent lister is protected from cancellation or any damage during your stay.
A few days before your move out, you’ll receive an email prompting you to add your Australian bank account details to your EasyRent account so we can refund your security deposit to you.
The EasyRent lister will have two days to let us know if they’d like to contest your security deposit refund and if they don’t contest, we’ll automatically refund your security deposit to you on the 3rd day after your move out.
You're required to pay for the full listed duration but can choose to book your move in and out for whenever you'd like, as long as it's within the listed duration dates.
Most EasyRenters stay for the full listed duration but if you're paying for this full duration, you're welcome to be flexible on dates if needed.
To be considered, make sure you can stay or pay for the full duration at the listed weekly rent price! As part of your enquiry, we also suggest you make your EasyRent profile as detailed as possible. This will improve your chance of being selected
You can explore all Sydney and Melbourne listings on our website, using the dates and location filter.
If you'd like to enquire into a listing, be sure to read the listing description to see if you're the perfect fit! Some EasyRent listers outline their preferences, including couples, age and gender preferences.
